The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Local churches and extension ministries of the Church provide the most significant arenas through which disciple-making occurs.

First United Methodist Church
The Clothes ClosetThe Clothes Closet is located in the lower level of First United Methodist Church in approximately 2010, when a need was recognized in our local community. The mission is to provide gently used clean clothing, shoes, and outerwear to men, women and children of all ages. Generous donations and volunteers allow us to provide this community service at no cost. All who are in need are welcome!
Our volunteers are the heart of The Clothes Closet who dedicate their time to make it run effortlessly. We could not do what we do without the generosity of people who donate their clothing to help our mission. People tell us all the time they would rather donate to our cause knowing that we are not charging any money for those who visit The Clothes Closet. When people walk through our door we want them to feel comfortable without any judgement. Many people are sometimes surprised of how large and organized our closet is. It is the best feeling when people come in and find what they are in need of, especially if it is not a common size that we often have donations of. It makes our hearts happy when we see people leave with smiles on their faces knowing they can clothe their families and have one less worry. Find us on our Facebook page at TheClothesCloset@FUMCHartford. Our hours are posted on our Facebook page at the beginning of each month. The days and hours may vary depending on our volunteers schedules. If people would like to volunteer their time to help, please stop in during the hours that we are open. If people wish to donate to the Clothes Closet, we do have a list on our Facebook page of what we are accepting. People can drop off donations during the times that we are open. If our hours that we are open for you to stop and shop or donate, please send us a message. We do ask that the donations be free of rips, stains, odors and tears. |
